HOBHOUSE-BASED gospel group, Vocal Union Boys is set to launch its third album at the Courtauld Theatre in Mutare on June 6.
The album, Gore reNyasha has six tracks such as Ndasunungurwa,Vana vaMwari, Gore reNyasha featuring Macdee, Mbiri kuna Yahwe, Rudo and Ngaavongwe Jesu.
Vocal Union Boys comprise of the three Chiromo brothers, Cyprian Taurai(23) Brighton Garikai(22) and Admire Takunda(21).
The Chiromo brothers compose their own songs and they used to be an accapela group but have since incorporated instruments in their music.
“We started singing when we were young. We would sing during church services and at weddings. This is our third album after we did the first album, Everyday Every Hour produced by CBleech. Our second album was Hupenyu and was produced by Ngoni Mashezha, but both albums did not do well. We also did a song for EMA called Marara Kwete,” said Cyprian who is the eldest and band leader.
Cyprian said they were very excited to be launching their album.
“We are very excited about launching our album. The preparations are going on well and everything is now in place. We are only waiting for the big day,” he said.
Cyprian said their parents were their source of inspiration
“At first our parents did not want us to do music as they were afraid that it would affect our academics but now they are our number one supporters and we are so grateful to have such parents,” he said.
The theme for the album launch will be: ‘Spreading the gospel through music’. The launch will be graced by Mupositori Wency, Sharon Manyonganise and Wellington Kurenda all from Zimpraise. Renowned music producer, Macdee who produced the album will also grace the occasion.
Macdee (real name Macdonald Chidavaenzi) expressed confidence and said the album launch marks the beginning of a great musical journey.
“The boys are part of the talent I devoted my time to when I came to Mutare in search for talent. Our aim is to see more and more of these young talents growing in Mutare and other cities as well. I like their approach to gospel music. It is unique. I wish them all the best and I will be there to give them maximum support as they launch the beginning of a great musical journey,” he said.
