THE Botswana elite football league is set to conclude on Sunday with former Highlanders striker Ozias Zibande sitting on seven goals from 14 appearances.

Zibande, who left Bosso mid last year to join Gaborone United only to be loaned to Gilport Lions, says his debut stint across the Ramokgwebana Border Post was great and it was an eye opener.

a?I have had a brilliant stay in Botswana. I think I could have done more had it not been that I got my work permit late. We are playing our last game of the season on Sunday after making 14 appearances and scoring seven goals,a? said the 23-year-old Zibande from his base in Gaborone.

a?Football is developing in all countries and I must say the league here is now at par with the Zimbabwe Premiership,a? said the ex Bosso striker whose contract with United is set to run out in December next year.

At Gilport Lions, Zibande played alongside fellow Zimbabwean Tendai Nyamadzawo, who has 13 goals under his belt ahead of the closure of the season.

a?It was a great honour to play alongside Nyamadzawo whom I believe also had a brilliant season. He gave me the confidence to keep on doing well for Gilport. Come next season, I believe I will greatly shine,a? he said.

Zibande played local football in the junior ranks with the likes of foreign based duo of Kudakwashe Mahachi, Marvelous Nakamba and South Africa bound Knox Mutizwa who all happen to be his close associates. .
