CABS ordered to submit list of Dimaf beneficiaries
Chronicle Reporter
THE Government has ordered CABS to submit the names of companies that have received funding under the Distressed Industries and Marginalised Areas Fund (Dimaf) as it wants that information to be made public, a Cabinet Minister said yesterday.
Two weeks ago CABS reported that 17 companies from Matabeleland region had received 80 percent of the $11,4 million that the bank had disbursed.
However, in an interview on the sidelines of a meeting with civic society leaders in Bulawayo yesterday, Industry and Commerce Minister Professor Welshman Ncube said his ministry has not yet received the report on the companies that had so benefited from the fund. He said his ministry had therefore asked CABS to submit the list of beneficiaries to his ministry so that the information could be made public.
Minister Ncube said Cabinet had ordered that Dimaf beneficiaries must be made public.
The bank has been refusing to release the names of the companies, saying the issue was confidential.
