Preps for second Copac All Stakeholders conference gather pace

PREPARATIONS for the Copac Second All Stakeholders’ Conference have gathered momentum amid revelations that $1,2 million is needed to finance the entire event.

In an interview from Harare yesterday, Copac co-chairperson Cde Munyaradzi Paul Mangwana said the select committee was working on ensuring that all logistics for the successful holding of the forum, which is slated for the end of this month, were in place.

Cde Mangwana said the Second All Stakeholders’ Conference would be held in Harare although his counterparts Mr Edward Mkhosi (MDC) and Douglas Mwonzora (MDC-T) said they preferred Bulawayo as the suitable venue for the event.

MDC-T, gold panners clash at Shangani Centre

SIX MDC-T party members were injured two of them critically when they clashed with alleged illegal gold panners at Shangani Business Centre.

Three vehicles, which were part of the MDC-T convoy, which was on its way to the party’s 13th anniversary celebrations in Bulawayo, had their windscreens shattered following the fierce fight.
MDC-T Midlands provincial spokesperson, Mr James Tsuro confirmed the incident, which occurred on Saturday morning.

A witness said the MDC-T members had stopped at Shangani Business Centre to buy some refreshments when they tried to force a group of gold panners to chant the party slogan.
