Police hailed for hard work
Chronicle Reporter
POLICE are ready to deal impartially with political violence to ensure a credible referendum and general election next year, a senior official said yesterday.
Speaking during a pass-out parade for 294 recruits at Ntabazinduna Police Depot yesterday, the Attorney-General, Johannes Tomana, said the peace and democracy prevailing in the country were a result of hard work by the force.
He said Zimbabweans should work with the police to uphold peace, in line with President Mugabe’s call to refrain from violence.
“His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe and the Commander-In-Chief of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, Cde Mugabe has repeatedly encouraged the citizenry to refrain from political violence by exuding tolerance of people with different political views and ideologies,” said AG Tomana.
