THE Bulawayo City Council yesterday officially launched the first call centre to be instituted by a local authority in the country.

The world class, technologically advanced centre is expected to improve customer relations and service delivery through reducing response times to emergencies and increasing interaction between council and residents.

Council launched the call centre to ensure that residents have a 24-hour access to toll free numbers— 0800 4700 and 0808 4700 — to request emergency services like fire and ambulance, report burst pipes and sewers, make queries on their bills and give feedback to the local authority.

The launch comes a few weeks after the Bulawayo City Council scooped first prize in the Zimbabwe Customer Service Award in the public sector category at the service excellence awards held in Harare recently.
