US vote experts due to visit DRC
Washington — US election experts will likely travel to the Democratic Republic of Congo early next month to advise on the vote count for November parliamentary polls, a State Department official said on Tuesday.
The African country’s electoral commission said on Monday it had halted the vote count for November 28 parliamentary elections until experts arrive from the United States and Britain, but the process was due to resume on Wednesday.

Jos — A family of four people was killed in a machete attack in Nigeria’s ethnically and religiously mixed Plateau state yesterday, the state government’s spokesperson said.
Plateau is a tinderbox of ethnic and religious rivalries over land and power between local people and migrants from other areas. These often take the form of sectarian strife between the state’s Christian and Muslim communities.

NEWLY promoted Castle Lager Premier Soccer League outfit, Quelaton will start their 2012 pre-season preparations on Wednesday next week at Mpopoma High School, their chairman has confirmed.
Quelaton won the sole ticket to the elite league after coming tops in the Southern Region Division One League under the tutelage of unheralded Thulani Sibanda and his assistant Clement Chimimba. They garnered 68 points.
