Defence Minister Emmerson Mnangagwa has said claims of bad blood between him and Vice-President Joice Mujuru were a creation of the media as he enjoyed cordial relations with the Vice-President.

He dismissed claims that he was leading a faction within Zanu-PF which was opposed to Vice-President Mujuru, also alleged to be leading another faction within the ruling party.

Minister Mnangagwa and VP Mujuru are often reported in the private media to be leading rival factions in Zanu-PF in their bids to succeed President Mugabe.

In an interview after the launch of the Week Without Violence outreach programme organised by Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA) in Gweru at the weekend where he was guest of honour, Minister Mnangagwa said Zanu-PF was a revolutionary party which could not afford to be run by factions.
